On Thursday 26th of January, Belgian label Pelican Fly will throw the first of their parties and begin their residency at Paris’ renowned Social Club, where Sinjin Hawke, Zora Jones, Dj Slow, Mister Tweeks, Prince Jean, Richelle and a VERY SPECIAL GUEST will provide a soundtrack to tear the roof off the club, in what looks to be an unreal night. To kick start their upcoming residency, we have today been gifted by the Pelican Fly crew with the first instalment of exclusive mixes in the run up to the event. The first coming from the label founder and curator of the last in our “Best of 2011 Series”, Dj Slow. Recorded completely live by the Pelican Fly chief, the mix takes you into the hazy late night vibes of duval house (the de-facto headquarters of the Brussels based outfit) with a journey through 57 minutes and 15 seconds of hard hitting jersey breaks, juke rhythms, eski grime basslines and genre-defying club mind-benders. Rapidly flowing between each track with ease, the mix captures the essence of what to expect from the Pelican Fly parties; hip hop/RnB fused with subversive club music and good vibes.
